Rising concerns on widespread malnutrition in Scottish hospitals
04 July 2010
Malnutrition is still causing tremendous damages in Scotland, particularly for older patients, reports The Herald. Dr Jean Turner of the Scotland Patients Association (SPA) has drawn attention to the fact that staff behaviour and standards of care can have a defining impact on a patient’s health. She calls for government action regarding dehydration and malnutrition, which can lead to disastrous consequences. The SPA likens this form of inefficiency to ‘euthanasia’.
