Netherlands Recommends Medical Nutrition In Benefits Packages

The Netherlands Health Care Insurance Board (CVZ) which is the main advisory body to the Ministry of Health in the Netherlands recently defined employers benefit packages and reimbursement recommendations. Medical nutrition was mentioned in these definitions to be included in all basic benefits packages.

The CVZ recommends that all patients who need disease related nutrition or who are malnourished should get access to and reimbursement of medical nutrition.

It is hoped that these comments will set a best practice standard for other European countries.
