WHO malnutrition tool launched
Online tool provides a resource for maternal malnutrition
Date: 15 August 2011
The World Health Organisation (WHO) has launched a new online tool to help combat malnutrition. The e-library for evidence of nutrition actions (eLENA) aims to tackle the three major forms of malnutrition, underweight, micronutrient deficiency and overweight/obesity. The tool was launched at a WHO nutrition meeting in Sri Lanka and is mainly focused on improving maternal nutrition and nutrition of infants and young children. eLENA covers a wide range of interventions including how to treat acute malnutrition and how to use supplements to prevent iron deficiency in pregnant women.
